105NE’s DG Tony was unable to get to International Convention – so he had his own personal ceremony courtesy of PID Lion Phil Nathan.
One of the great moments in any District Governor’s year is when, at International Convention, they take the oath from their incoming International President followed by the pulling of the “Elect” ribbon from their badge by their partner in service. For a variety of reasons the incoming Governor of District 105-NE, Lion Tony Campbell, was not able to travel to Minneapolis, so he missed this special moment.
PID Lion Phil Nathan, a long term and genuine friend of the District, offered to travel to 105-NE, between trips to Minneapolis, New York and other parts of the Lions globe, attend the handover dinner and perform the Induction. This ceremony is, sadly, not usually witnessed by the vast majority of Lions in any District and to have it take place surrounded by fellow Lion friends’ makes it all the more special for an incoming Governor.
Suffice to say the evening went with the usual party spirit for which 105-NE is famous, thanks in no small part to the efforts of PID Lion Phil who was aided and abetted by the incoming 105-BN District Governor, Lion Harry Hawksworth and Norah who managed to get hold of all the necessary items of regalia, paperwork, etc, at the International Convention and bring them to the North East.
All in the District, especially DG Tony and Anne, were truly grateful for such a combined and thoughtful act of sincere Lions friendship.
