A Lion since 1982 and a member of the South Woodham Ferrers Lions Club since it was Chartered in 1989, Phil has held many offices within the Association, including Club President, Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, Campaign Sight-first group co-ordinator, Vice and District Governor and Chairman of the Council of Governors, to mention just a few.
Lion Phil has served as Multiple District and District Leo Club Chairman, Multiple District Youth Chairman, Youth Outreach Officer and Deputy Chairman of the Europa Forum.
Uniquely, Lion Phil has served as Chairman of the Council of Governors Advisory Committee on two separate occasions, was the Grant Administrator for the Lions Eye Health Programme from 1997 – 2008.
Since 2001 he has been a member of the 105-EA Hearing Trust, a Trust whose work and aims are now being extended throughout the Multiple District.
Lion Phil was the prime mover behind the Palace of Westminster Lions Club, which Chartered in 2007 – a Club that is truly cross party.
In January 2009, the Council of Governors invited Lion Phil to arrange and facilitate a Youth Symposium within the MD; the Symposium took place, to great acclaim, in June 2009.
In 2007 Phil proposed the formation of the first Internet Club in MD105, the Helen Keller Internet Lions Club, which chartered in September 2008.
